What is it?

DHEA is a natural hormone precursor produced in adrenal glands. In both men and women, DHEA is converted into androgens (testosterone) in the body, which could lend much-needed support to overall reproductive and ovarian functions.

Why is it needed?

The potential of DHEA for fertility is in the support it may lend to resolving certain hormonal imbalances. Studies have found that both DHEA and testosterone levels decline as women age, and women with low ovarian reserve are also more likely to be low on testosterone.

How does it work on acellular level?

DHEA is converted into testosterone, which has an affinity to the androgen receptors on the surface of granulosa cells - the cells that support and nurture the growing eggs.

Why is it important for fertility?

DHEA fertility supplements may help maintain healthy androgen levels and support the health of the ovaries, which is where eggs go through the maturation process before ovulation*.
